Synopsis: The Hidden

In the Devon countryside, Lady Amalie Northbrooke lives at Mere Manor, the estate she inherited following a family tragedy.

Devoting her time to breeding basset hounds and maintaining her home, while establishing an independent life away from the demands of society.

When her brother, Lord Westlake, returns after eleven years of absence, Amalie hopes to rebuild their relationship.

However, his arrival coincides with changes at Mere Manor that unsettle her established routines and raise questions about the people she has long trusted.

Following a violent encounter, Amalie meets Dr. Richard Cartwell, Lord Haven. As their relationship develops, he offers both companionship and a different perspective on the world beyond her familiar surroundings.

When an unexplained death disrupts life at Mere Manor, Amalie begins investigating the circumstances surrounding it.

With Dr. Cartwell’s assistance, she uncovers secrets and conflicting loyalties that place her increasingly at risk.

As she attempts to establish the truth, Amalie must reconsider her understanding of her family, her home, and the people around her, while confronting the possibility that the danger may be closer than she imagined.

Review: The Hidden

The Hidden is the 4th book in the Secret Tales series of Regency Suspense Romances written by writer Sanna Brand.

Focussing on the romance between, a young woman Lady Amalie Northbrook who loves Basset hounds and looking after Mete Manor.

Because of her parents’ death and her brothers long absence she is currently being looked after by her aunt and uncle.

While the male character is Dr Cartwell who rescuers Amalie when she is held hostage during the robbery.

Regency Romance?

If you are looking for a typical Regency romance with balls and small gatherings and witty dialogue, then The Hidden is not for you.

This is because Sanna Brand’s The Secret Tales which this is the fourth book the series is not that type of romance and while there are some of those scenes this is a mystery suspense romance. With all three aspects of the novel getting equal billing.

However, if you are reading The Hidden for the mystery and suspense, you may be disappointed, while they do form a major element of the novel, the mystery is basic with in my opinion an obvious solution.

While this is not a major problem as the story written by Sannaa Brand still works as a fun romance with a nice mystery as a subplot.

This is because the quality of the relationship between Dr Cartwell and Lady Amalie, as both characters are distinct individuals whose personalities complement each other making the romance believable.

Should your Read? The Hidden

Sanna Brands novel The Hidden is an ideal read for anyone who enjoys their Regency Romances with a strong independent woman and a story with enough mystery and suspense to add to the romance rather than distract from it.

Conclusion

The Hidden by Sanna Brand the 4th book in the Secret Tales series, is the perfect addition to that series and your TBR as it is light fun read which can be read as a standalone or part of the series.
