Synopsis: Lost Heart of Paris
Paris Laurent is a talented engineer who has lived with severe agoraphobia for years, rarely leaving her Manhattan apartment.
Her daily life revolves around her work and the familiar surroundings she has created for herself. When Julian Sterling moves in next door, his outgoing personality and growing interest in Paris begin to challenge her isolation.
As Paris explores her thoughts and experiences through writing, she creates an imagined island world inhabited by Calician, a captivating man who offers her an escape from the difficulties of her everyday life. As the fictional world becomes increasingly compelling, Paris finds herself drawn further into its comforts and away from reality.
Caught between her growing connection with Julian and her attachment to the world she has created, Paris struggles to distinguish between fantasy and reality. As the boundaries between the two begin to blur, she must confront what she is seeking in each and find a way to reconnect with the life she has left behind.
A contemporary speculative romance exploring isolation, imagination, mental health, and the distinction between an idealised escape and the complexities of real-life relationships

Review: Lost Heart of Paris
Lost Heart of Paris by S.P. Cooper is a magical romance novel that uses its fantastical elements to show how the crippling effects of bereavement and mental illness can cause issues in everyday lives.
The novel focuses on Paris Laurent a brilliant engineer who as well as struggling with mental illness is trying to get a robotic vacuum cleaner so her long-time friend, can get her business up and running.
Two Types of Novel
On the one hand Lost Heart of Paris, is an easy-to-read romance with a number of standard plot points for the story such as slow-burn and magical romance, as Paris moves from the real world to a fantasy world of Greek gods.
However, the element of Magical realism takes Lost Heart of Paris, as the writer, S.P. Cooper’s uses the novel deals to explore how mental health can have, long term effects on an individual.
On a sidenote although the writer handles Paris dealing with mental health, it is done at such a deep level that this book may not be suitable for every reader.
Pacing
Lost Heart of Paris, is one of those novels that while has really good pacing does seem to have an issue that a lot of genres like in this case the romances one, were as a reader we all know the conclusion of the novel be, there are times that you wish it would get there a bit quicker.
Although with the narrative created by S.P. Cooper, if most of the sections which change the pacing of the novel were taken out the issues that affect Paris in the novel would probably be handled without the sensitivity which happens at the moment.
Who Should Read? Lost Heart of Paris
if you are looking to read, Lost Heat of Paris because it is a magical romance please be aware as it does seem on the outside to be your standard romance novel.
However, S.P. Cooper’s does concentrate very deeply with a mental Health crisis where it may come to ahead.
Conclusion
This is a well written novel that examines how mental health can really alter the mind of one individual by using a magical romance as the vehicle, though it is done in such a way that it makes Lost Heart of Paris by S.P. Cooper an enjoyable read for the right reader.
