Review

The 6th novel in Jeffrey Archer’s William Warwick series Traitors gate is set around the attempted theft of the British crown Jewels from the Tower of London.

To me Traitors Gate is a return to form of Jeffrey Archer whose last outing of the William Warwick series for me felt a bit flat and was definitely below his usual standards.

To me as a reader Jeffrey Archer is not a great writer in the literary sense of the word but what he does is draw readers in with an engaging story giving readers a classic page turner and a great beach read.

Once again although part of a series that does have things that continue from one story to the next, there is no need to read them in order, as Archer provides enough background information to events from other books although these become mild spoilers if you read the books out of order.

While the story may be a little far-fetched in the way it was written and the plot line, if you suspend your belief you are able to have an enjoyable time while reading Traitors Gate.

What really worked for me was the way that the book interwoven the story of how the crown jewels were stolen during the late 17th Century by Captain Blood with the two children doing it as a school project, rather than a separate story set during these events,

Which to me allowed the story to flow a lot better than what would have been if the writer had gone by the other route.

Conclusion

Like all Jeffrey Traitors Gate may not be the most technicly written novel, however what Archer does will, including tis novel is write an intreaging novel that will keep you reading from start to finish.
