Synopsis: Paws for Connection
The Bookworm by the Bay is a small-town bookstore known for its welcoming atmosphere and the rescue cats that have a habit of bringing people together.
Since her divorce, Sarah has focused on creating a stable life for her daughter. Between work and parenting, she has little time for unexpected changes—least of all adopting a kitten she never intended to bring home.
Simon has spent years raising his daughter on his own. When she asks for a cat, he’s determined to make it happen, even if it means stepping outside his comfort zone.
Their daughters, however, have other ideas. They choose a bonded pair of kittens that cannot be separated, leaving Sarah and Simon sharing responsibility for the mischievous siblings. As their lives become increasingly intertwined, the arrangement begins to develop into a friendship that neither of them anticipated.
As they navigate parenthood, family responsibilities, and the possibility of a second chance at love, Sarah and Simon must decide whether they are ready to move beyond the past and embrace an uncertain future together.
A heartwarming contemporary romance about family, fresh starts, and the unexpected connections that can change a life.

Review: Paws for Connection
Paws for Connection is a clean romance by Jeanine Lauren, and the first book in the Pages and Paws series, a light romance series set in a Canadian coastal town of Sunshine Bay and particularly the cat rescue centre there.
Two Romances in one
Unusually for a romance novel there was more than one romances in the novel.
The first being between Raven, the owner of an animal rescue centre and Lance a bookstore owner.
In addition to this side romance is the main one which is between two divorced single parents of a daughter Sarah and Simone.
Does it Work
While there is a perfectly justifiable reason for the writer Janine Lauren to put these two romances in the first novel of a series. As a reader it felt that crowded as well as lacking a flow in both romances that you would normally have in this genre.
It is very similar to when you read a book with multiple perspectives there is always one perspective you like more than the other, even if you do not dislike the others.
Which means while both romances were interesting as a reader when not reading your favourite romance you will have in the back of your mind when are we getting back to that one.
In addition to this both romances are fighting for limited spaces in the novel so one or the other will feel crowded out.
So, for me Raben and Lance’s romance should have been a prequal making Simon and Sarah’s book one of the series.
Successes
Having said that Jeanine Lauren was able to build up the tension in the development of the romance between Simon and Sarah, as they moved from acquaintances at the start of the novel both as parents of two friends and the addition of the adoption of the two cats.
All the way to a full blown romance at the end, along with the struggles of being a single parent both one with the ex involved and one without, which really added to both the character arc of the individuals in the novel as well as the romance.
Human and Animal Side Characters
While most romance novels side characters are only there for light relief or a sounding board, but Paws for Connection, is slightly different to that as Jeanine Lauren as two pairs of side characters that have large effect on the main romance.
The first are Simon and Sarah’s daughters who are the driving force of the two of them getting together as they are friends at the start of the novel and the driving force of them getting the cats.
The second pair of secondary characters that have a large effect, on the story are the twin cats that are adopted by Simon and Sarah, which help move their relationship along.
Who Should Read? Paws for Connection
Paws for Connection is the perfect romance for those readers who love a clean romance with the single parent trope done well with cats.
Conclusion
So while Paws for Connection by Jeanine Lauren does have its limitations, I would still recommend this for Readers of Clean romances.
